Connect with us!
Tri-County Humane Society is a small shelter located in beautiful St. James, MO.
We started 25 years ago with the desire to help the growing population of animals in our area. Our current Board of Directors began 5 years ago and continues to help the many animals find a safe harbor until they can find their forever home. We have opened our doors to all types of animals in need and are one of the few no-kills shelters in Missouri that accepts and cares for cats.
Hours of Operation
Monday - Saturday: 10:00am-3:00pm
Volunteers and Dog Walkers are most welcomed. Call the shelter and/or stop by for a volunteer application.
Note: No dog walking on Sundays due to the limited shelter hours.
"Making a Difference one pet at a time"
Our objective is to take in stray and abandoned animals to provide them with food, shelter, and affection in a clean, healthy environment with the attention of a veterinarian as needed. Our priority is to keep them until they can be placed in homes where they will be loved and cared for.
We are a "No Kill" Facility
So what does it mean for us to be a "no kill" facility. It means we do everything we can to find adoptable pets a forever home. Unfortunately not all pets are adoptable and we do not have the appropriate funding or location to do everything out hearts want to do.
A No-Kill Shelter is an animal shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals even when the Shelter is full, reserving euthanasia for the terminally ill or those considered dangerous to the public.
